This makes it ideal for traveling musicians who may need to use a different preamp every night.

The AEA R88 is a stereo ribbon microphone celebrated for its clear sound and natural stereo imaging. It features two Big Ribbon elements positioned at a 90° angle—using the Blumlein stereo technique—to capture a true stereo sound with a single microphone. This design is an excellent way to achieve a spacious sound without the hassle of a multi-microphone setup. The R88 utilizes AEA's Large Ribbon Geometry (LRG), delivering effortless low-end response down to 20Hz, a capability rarely achieved by microphones with smaller ribbons.
