RME 12Mic

The RME 12Mic is a twelve-channel remote-controlled microphone preamplifier with A/D conversion, offering studio-quality performance; remote-controllable gains; integrated MADI and AVB connectivity; and a multitude of additional features, making it a great solution for any professional recording setup.

The microphone input stages without PAD have a gain range of 75 dB and accept signals up to +18 dBu. Speaking of its converter, this is where the 12Mic excels, offering an excellent signal-to-noise ratio across all channels. The 12Mic features twelve front XLR connections, which can handle both line-level and microphone signals. Additionally, the first four connections also accept TRS connectors with switchable high impedance (Hi-Z) for instruments.

Thanks to its MADI I/O, both coaxial and optical, which are available for independent or redundant operation, they can be used to daisy-chain, merge, and convert MADI signals with incredibly low latency. Additionally, three optical ADAT outputs provide up to 24 audio channels. The ADAT ports can also be used to send monitor mixes from AVB or MADI inputs to existing headphone amplifiers/DACs. RME offers an AVB device with two network ports, allowing RME devices to be controlled by any AVB controller. Any signal arriving at the 12Mic can be routed and transmitted across a network with fixed latency and guaranteed bandwidth.

RME's excellent SteadyClock™ ensures perfect A/D conversion, as jitter from external sync sources is virtually eliminated. All configuration is done via DIP switches located at the back of the OctaMic II. The analog outputs and the two digital outputs work completely simultaneously. The reference level choice only affects the analog outputs. The SIG/CLIP indicator and A/D conversion will react only to the gain potentiometers.
