RME Fireface UCX II

The Fireface UCX II is a highly integrated professional audio solution in an ultra-compact format for studio and live recordings. It continues RME's long tradition of designing advanced compact interfaces, packing into a half-rack unit what would normally be distributed across two or three 19-inch panels.

The Fireface UCX II features two microphone/line preamps in a combined XLR configuration on the front panel, along with two digitally controlled line/instrument inputs, followed by a headphone jack, controls, a display, and the main volume knob. On the rear, there is a set of ten balanced analog line inputs and outputs, MIDI I/O, ADAT I/O, AES/EBU I/O, SPDIF I/O, USB 2.0, and word clock I/O.

With SteadyClock FS, the Fireface UCX II presents the latest jitter rejection and clock technology from RME. Based on a femtosecond clock, SteadyClock FS reduces intrinsic fluctuation when converting to and from analog across all digital formats to a new historical minimum.

Standalone Functionality: Independent control from the device with direct and convenient access to all functions. Four buttons, a rotary encoder, a clear and high-resolution display, and a well-thought-out menu structure allow the user to quickly change and configure device settings. Additionally, the internal memory allows for permanent storage of six different device states. Therefore, the Fireface UCX II can operate entirely autonomously, without any computer connected. In standalone mode, it can transform into entirely different devices with the simple click of a button. Furthermore, TotalMix FX can also be controlled via MIDI.

Class Compliant: Operates in two different modes: USB2 driver-based mode and Class Compliant mode. The Class Compliant mode is a standard that is natively supported by operating systems like Windows, macOS, and Linux distributions. No proprietary drivers are required; the device will be recognized directly when the CC firmware is loaded. The functions available natively will be limited compared to those provided by the RME driver for UCX II.

DURec is an integrated digital recorder for all inputs and outputs directly to USB memory devices via the rear USB port. It allows recording to USB drives or hard disks with up to 2 TB of capacity. The recording function is provided by the internal DSP, making it independent of any connected Windows or Mac computer. This USB port can alternatively be used for the connection of RME’s optional USB remote control, the ARC.
